Gli scarabei funebri, detti del cuore, recavano invocazioni del defunto dirette al suo cuore o preghiere ai geni che si credeva trattenessero il cuore del morto.
Queste iscrizioni facevano riferimento ai capitoli XXVIII e XXX del Libro dei Morti.
Il testo, di difficile interpretazione e in alcuni punti ormai irrimediabilmente compromesso, ricorda il nome del proprietario Cia-en-Khonsu. Seguito da quello della madre, Mut-en-per-mes, e da un elenco di nomi di divinità che proteggono il defunto, in alcuni dei quali egli si identifica.
E’ datato intorno al III secolo a.C., al periodo Tolemaico, seguito alla conquista dell’Egitto da parte di Alessandro Magno.
