Il basso livello delle acque del fiume Elba registrato vicino alla città di Decin (Repubblica Ceca) ha fatto emergere più di una dozzina di hunger stone, le pietre della fame.
I nostri antenati lo facevano per due ragioni: documentare i bassi livelli di acqua e spiegare agli uomini gli effetti della siccità.
La pietra della fame più antica tra quelle riemerse risale al 1616. E’ considerata il più antico punto di riferimento idrogeologico dell’Europa centrale. Si trova lungo le rive dell’Elba che nasce proprio nella Repubblica Ceca.
La più famosa invece, secondo uno studio 2013 è quella che spiega i danni recati dal grande caldo: cattivo raccolto, scarsità di cibo, aumento dei prezzi e successiva carestia.
E come se non fosse già preoccupante così, altre pietre hanno inciso frasi come: “Abbiamo pianto – Piangiamo – piangerete” oppure “Chi mi ha visto una volta, ha pianto, chi mi vede adesso piangerà”.
Un messaggio da parte dei nostri antenati che ci invitano a una maggiore attenzione verso l’inquinamento e i cambiamenti climatici?
