L’educazione di un derviscio è particolarmente dura e consiste in mille e un giorno di penitenza, prevede il digiuno e la meditazione. Per apprendere la danza, i Dervisci bloccano due dita del piede al pavimento. In questo modo essi imparano a mantenere regolare e disciplinata la loro rotazione.
Mentre rotea appoggia il suo peso sul piede sinistro e quando la rotazione acquista velocità, sulle dita del piede sinistro, mentre la gamba destra dà slancio alla rotazione sinistra.
