Borgo Medioevale

Basta immergersi nel verde del Parco del Valentino, nei suoi 500.000 mq, camminare sulle rive del Po, osservare i mille colori della collina per ritrovarsi proiettati nel Medioevo.

Il Borgo Medioevale fu ideato da un gruppo di artisti e intellettuali coordinati da Alfredo D’Andrade e costruito in occasione dell’Esposizione Generale Italiana nel 1884.

La forma, la struttura, le finiture e le decorazioni del Borgo sono scrupolosamente ricostruite da edifici quattrocenteschi del Piemonte e della Valle d’Aosta.

All’interno si notano le ricostruzioni delle botteghe dei vari artigiani, la fontana del melograno ed il castello del signore.

La visita alla Rocca rievoca l’atmosfera dell’epoca ed inoltre ore il percorso comprende anche il “Giardino delle Delizie”.

Il Borgo

All’interno delle mura merlate, oltre il ponte levatoio, le costruzioni del Borgo si susseguono lungo la via principale, riproponendo edifici piemontesi e valdostani. Essi costituiscono il nucleo abitato, animato dalle botteghe artigiane, dalla fontana alla tettoia del forno per il pane, dal laboratorio del maniscalco, all’Ospizio per accogliere i pellegrini.

Sotto il portico della Casa di Bussoleno è allestita una cartiera, ove l’antica pila a magli sfilaccia gli stracci per la carta.

Dietro alla facciata della chiesa è stata allestita una sala mostre, dove, in determinati periodi, sono proposte al pubblico esposizioni temporanee.

La Rocca

Simile al castello di Fenis costituisce il punto principale del Borgo. E’ la dimora signorile fortificata, con stanze ricche di mobili e suppellettili, corazze e armi che illustrano gli usi di vita del Quattrocento. La sala da pranzo e la cucina offrono un’idea “viva” e fedele di un castello sabaudo del XV secolo. Oltrepassata la sala del trono, la stanza da letto colpisce per il grande baldacchino dalle cortine ricamate, infine la cappella che chiude il percorso.

Il giardino

Attraverso la tettoia delle armi da assedio, si accede al Giardino delle delizie, ricco di piante da fiore, al Giardino dei “rimedi semplici”, coltivato con erbe aromatiche e medicamentose, e all’Orto, con il capanno per il ricovero degli attrezzi.
